5-Year-Old Ginger Sour

Ginger-Sour.jpg

When quarantine arrived in Apt 1B, my husband, Justin, got creative with our 5-year-old tequila along with leftover ingredients in our cupboard. You must be thinking, “5 years old? That’s disgusting.” Well according to a reputable source (the internet), most hard liquor can last indefinitely if it remains unopened. My hypothesis is that since this cocktail has ginger in it, it’s immune-boosting properties should cancel any bad juju out.

This drink is good both in the winter and the summer. It’s hot, zesty and refreshing all at once. Big bonus is that it only requires 6 ingredients and is super easy to make. This recipe is only good for one drink so double up if you’re in the mood for a second.

Ginger Sour Cocktail

Ingredients

1 oz maple syrup

1 oz grated or chopped ginger

2 oz tequila

1 oz lime juice

Method

  1. Start by holding the ginger firmly and peel it with a spoon or a knife. After you’re done peeling, grate up to 1 oz of ginger and set aside.

  2. Next roll your lime back and forth with the heel of your hand. Cut in half and squeeze out 1 oz of lime juice.

  3. Pour out 2 oz of tequila and 1 oz of maple syrup.

  4. Now, take your large ice cube, place it in your glass, and combine all the ingredients.

  5. Top with seltzer and enjoy!
